Indians, Dutch settlers, showbiz folks, poets, slaves, hookers and hobos have all considered the Bowery to be their hottest gathering place, at one time or another. Now the LES History Project's Rob Hollander and the Bowery Alliance of Neighbors are worried that this jewel of untouched architecture might be disappearing, to be replaced by developer footprints.
